Creating Ways To Design Virtual Training That Stand Out

Virtual Training

Virtual training is a platform in which a virtual environment is used by a trainer or guide or coach to train people in certain skills to help them learn. Virtual platforms like teams or Zoom grab the fundamentals of Face-to-Face (F2F) training and duplicate that in virtual training or Virtual Instructor-Led Training(VILT).

This mode of training challenges geographical obstacles. It makes learning and training easier irrespective of your location. No traveling or time away from family and work is mandated in this sort of training phase.

The pandemic condition has forced Industries and businesses to think of varied ways to reach out to their employees and customers to get the work going.

Skills a virtual trainer needs to have: Virtual training is not only about uploading videos and materials online or organizing a Zoom meeting to discuss plans but much more.

  • A trainer must be thorough with the topic and know to deliver it engagingly using technology and relevant software.
  • As this mode of training has less involvement of energy than in-person training, the trainer must have the ability to deliver the concepts with much enthusiasm as an inability to do that would lead to sleepy trainees.

Research suggests that working from home aids productivity. With the increasing demand for hybrid work from employees and employers, reliance on technology has expanded too. Technology has made working from home simpler, but countless tools make chats, email, video conferencing, and virtual training easier causing a reflux of distractions. As a result, it gets harder for the instructors to focus and track the concentration or response of the trainees.

Here are a few tips to make engaging video training:

1) Mix it up: It is definitive to get distracted after a session of a 100-long slide presentation. So make it attractive. Introduce more high-quality videos and live demonstrations to make the training more engaging and a bit less distracting.

2) Usage of quizzes and polls: Keeping quizzes and polls after every half-hour session will help engage trainees and provide trainers with insight into the trainees’ understanding. This will seize the opportunity for trainees to multi-task and get distracted.

3) Breakout:  Breakout rooms allow employees and trainees to engage one another in training exercises. Learners use this room to meet each other before the recurring training session.

4) Be creative: Several tools are designed for learning activities in a virtual classroom. For instance, allow the participants to fill in a chart related to the topic while sharing the slides, or annotate on the shared file. This will encourage participation and also some fun activities.

5) Offer multiple options for participation: Webcams and microphones are not comfortable options for all. Keeping a chatbox open, may help every participant to engage with each other and clear doubts to expand upon the topics at hand.

6) Embrace AR: Augmented reality, is a tool that helps with “hands-on” training even in remote places. This tool is great for safety training, onboarding, checking sales and products, and many other applications. It adds interactive digital elements to the virtual training.

7) Using Branching scenarios: These are the “choose your adventure” section of any creative virtual training session that offers participants the to solve problems or perform tasks in groups with a medley of options.

8) Build-in breaks:  Even the most engaging virtual training can get hectic after an hour or two. Share the training schedule at the beginning of the session and let the participants know about sufficient breaks forward to recharge them.

9) Software that helps in virtual training: Software like Adobe connect helps in creating engaging webinars, video conferences, and video training.

Conclusion:

Virtual training is the best substitute for face-to-face training allowing groups of people to come together all across the globe. Led by an enthusiastic coach, a virtual training program has the same energy to deliver as that of a physical class.
