Cardano has established new records for transaction activity and network fees following the completion of epoch 660. The network processed 1,780,896 transactions during the five-day period ending October 11 UTC, exceeding its previous record of 1,566,974 by 13.65%. That earlier benchmark, set in epoch 304, had stood since November 2021.

On October 8 UTC, Cardano processed 542,532 transactions, setting a new daily record. Peak throughput reached a new high of approximately 440 transactions per second. Total transaction activity during epoch 660 was 11.27 times that of the preceding epoch. Transaction fees reached 337,720 ADA, exceeding the previous epoch fee record by 9.54%. These fees represent payments made by participants for the use of Cardano block space and execution resources.

Network Activity and Infrastructure

The records span three distinct measures: activity across a full five-day epoch, transactions within a single UTC calendar day, and peak throughput. The TPS figure reflects a brief peak rather than a sustained processing rate. Transaction totals measure ledger activity, including repeat participation and automated flows, rather than unique users or net new wallets.

Transactions on Cardano move native assets, execute smart contracts, and create demand for block space. During the record-setting period, the network processed the increased activity on its production blockchain using infrastructure supported by developers and independent stake pool operators. The network-wide totals include transactions from all applications and users active during the period. Average block occupancy rose substantially, with some blocks approaching the size limit as the volume concentrated around coordinated participation.

Cardano epochs run on a fixed schedule of roughly five days. Epoch 660 closed after producing more than 21,000 blocks. The surge demonstrates the network’s ability to absorb concentrated, high-volume activity without protocol-level intervention, relying on the existing stake pool operator set and standard fee market dynamics.

HOSKY Doggie Bowl Campaign

HOSKY’s Doggie Bowl campaign was a major driver of the increase. The project reopened its token distribution mechanism on October 6 with the explicit objective of surpassing previous transaction records. Participants sent 2 ADA to a designated address and received approximately 1.x ADA back, alongside a randomized allocation of HOSKY tokens. The returned ADA covers the minimum required for the output plus a small remainder after fees, while the token amount varies.

Repeated participation, including automation and scripting, generated continuous incoming payments and corresponding outgoing distributions. Some payouts served multiple recipients—often around 20—in a single transaction, reducing the number of on-chain actions needed for distribution while still contributing to overall volume. The campaign address accumulated a large number of UTXOs as payments arrived, and the project processed outbound batches throughout the epoch.

HOSKY previously helped drive Cardano’s record-setting activity during epochs 302 and 304 in November 2021. The latest campaign extends that involvement nearly five years after the original Doggie Bowl events. At the time, the project’s distribution mechanism contributed to elevated transaction counts and drew community attention during Cardano’s early smart-contract era. The 2026 reopening shows continuity of community-driven activity on the network.

HOSKY-related activity accounts for more than 9% of all transactions recorded on Cardano since the blockchain’s inception. This figure is a cumulative contribution across Cardano’s history, not the share generated during epoch 660 alone. The project’s wider ecosystem involvement includes stake pool support (including pools that distribute additional HOSKY rewards), NFT initiatives, and ongoing community participation.

Broader Context and Implications

The records highlight the role of community initiatives in generating on-chain demand. While much of the volume stemmed from a single coordinated campaign rather than organic DeFi or NFT activity alone, the resulting fee revenue and block utilization still accrue to the network and its stake pool operators. Cardano’s design allows such concentrated flows to settle without requiring changes to protocol parameters or external scaling solutions during the period.

Observers note that high transaction counts driven by repeat participation differ from metrics focused on unique active addresses or total value locked. The data released with the records therefore distinguish between peak throughput, daily totals, and epoch-wide activity. These distinctions help contextualize the achievement relative to both historical benchmarks and other forms of network usage.

The episode also underscores the longevity of early Cardano community projects. HOSKY, launched in November 2021 as a satirical meme token, has maintained consistent on-chain presence through successive market cycles. Its ability to mobilize participation years later contributed directly to breaking a multi-year record.

About HOSKY

HOSKY is a Cardano-native meme token launched in November 2021. Known for its satirical identity and description of its token as having no intrinsic value or expectation of financial return, the project operates Doggie Bowl distributions and community initiatives that support participation in the Cardano ecosystem. It maintains a presence through token holdings, NFT collections, and stake pool activity. The project positions itself as low-quality entertainment rather than a utility or investment vehicle.
