BlockDAG Dev Release 102: Addressing Notification Issues, Explorer UTXO Optimization & X1 App Security Features

BlockDAG just rolled out its 102nd developer release, and it’s all about making things better and smoother for everyone. The team fixed the Notification Loader Issue to ensure smooth device performance and improved user password security.

With each update, BlockDAG’s latest technological enhancements and steadfast commitment continue to uphold and deepen the trust of their user base, moving steadily toward a seamless user experience.

Recent Updates to X1 App

With a sharp focus on user experience, they’ve fixed the Notification Loader Issue—now, every device receives notifications seamlessly. This improvement stems from a critical backend API update that refreshes device IDs, enhancing communication across the board.

Building on this momentum, the release introduces new password functionality to enhance security. The team has included a password setup prompt for new users during onboarding, while existing users will also update their accounts with a new password at their next login. If users forget their password, the ‘Forgot Password’ feature allows them to regain access through OTP verification.

Android Deep Linking

However, not everything is smooth sailing. The team faces some hurdles with the deep linking feature on Android due to intricate redirection challenges. The domain redirection part is especially tricky, so it needs extra work to ensure proper function in various scenarios. Consequently, this feature has been temporarily paused in today’s release.

Meanwhile, the referral module will continue functioning as before without integrating deep linking. The team is actively working on a solution and expects to release a patch within a week to fix these issues and improve the user experience.

BlockDAG Explorer’s UTXO Model: Progress Update

Another development that Dev Release 102 showcased is the progression of the BlockDAG Explorer, focusing on the UTXO Model. The team has successfully overcome earlier challenges, enabling further development in managing and tracing transactions.

In this update, they have introduced a new database schema specifically designed for managing “From” addresses within the UTXO model. This design ensures each transaction references previous outputs as inputs, necessitating a structure that supports quick lookup and effective storage.

The relational setup links a transaction table to an input table, which in turn connects to the output table from prior transactions. This configuration facilitates swift tracing of every “From” address back to its source UTXO, ensuring accurate and comprehensive transaction histories. Moreover, the schema has been optimised for both speed and storage efficiency, which is crucial as the blockchain grows.

Rationalising Schema Relationships

Building on the BlockDAG Explorer’s UTXO Model enhancements, the team has refined the schema relationships to facilitate transaction processing better. Each transaction connects to multiple inputs, with each input directly referencing an output from a previous transaction. This setup is crucial for clearly tracking the movement of assets across the network, ensuring both transparency and precision.

The UTXO table, in particular, serves as a specialised view of the Outputs table, listing only those outputs that are still unspent. This feature is essential, as it quickly shows which outputs are free for upcoming transactions, helping to keep the blockchain efficient and responsive.

UTXO Schema Optimization

In dev release 102, the team keeps the progress rolling by optimising the UTXO schema to boost system performance. They’ve implemented indexing on crucial fields like transaction ID (tx_id), address, and output index, accelerating key queries for transaction validation and history retrieval.

Additionally, partitioning based on the blockchain’s size enhances performance by minimising the data scanned during queries. By caching frequently accessed data, such as the latest UTXOs, the system reduces database load and speeds up transaction validation, maintaining a swift and efficient blockchain environment.

Final Notes

To sum up, BlockDAG’s 102nd developer update brought several improvements and a few minor issues. The team is working on fixing a problem with the Android deep linking feature. They’ve made the app easier to use by improving how notifications are handled and making passwords more secure. The BlockDAG Explorer also got an update that makes tracking transactions more efficient.

The project has reached its 22nd presale batch, priced at $0.0178, showing that users continue supporting it. Each update improves the technology and builds more trust within the BlockDAG community, leading to smoother experiences in the future.
