Asia, London, and New York: why the hour you trade matters as much as the asset you choose

Subtitle:

Every asset has hours when it moves with force and hours when it only generates costs.

InvidiaTrade explains how market sessions quietly define the quality of your trades.

[Bogotá, Colombia, August 2026] — InvidiaTrade LATAM.

Many traders pick the right asset and get the direction right, but trade at the wrong hour. And that,

which almost no one measures, explains a good part of their mediocre results. The market does not

move the same all day: it moves in sessions.

The three big ones are Asia, London, and New York. Each has its own personality: which assets

wake up, how much volatility they bring, and above all, how much liquidity there is for your trades to

execute with quality.

“Trading the right asset at the wrong hour is like going fishing where there are no fish: you can

do everything right and still come back empty-handed. The professional trader does not trade

all day, they trade their hours. The rest of the time, they wait.”

— Juan Valderrama, Director of InvidiaTrade.

The three sessions and their character

Knowing the character of each session lets you choose when it makes sense to trade each asset:

  • Asian session (Tokyo/Sydney): generally calmer moves; the yen, the Australian dollar, and at

times gold take the lead.

  • London session: the most liquid of the day; the euro, the pound, and metals take the lead. It

often sets the trend for the day.

  • New York session: high volatility; the dollar, U.S. indices, and gold take the lead, especially

around macro data.

The London–New York overlap: the golden window

The hours when the London and New York sessions coincide concentrate the highest volume of the

day and, often, the cleanest and most followed moves. For the Latin American trader, that window

usually falls in the morning or midday depending on the country. If you could only trade a few hours

a day, these would probably be the best.

Why trading off-hours costs you

Trading in the “dead hours” is not neutral: it has a real cost that adds up trade after trade.

  • Wider spreads when liquidity is thin.
  • Erratic, low-volume moves that trigger stops for no reason.
  • A higher chance of getting stuck in directionless ranges.
  • Trading costs that the asset’s movement does not manage to justify.

Technology to trade on your hour

InvidiaTrade offers access to global markets throughout the entire trading day, along with

educational content so each trader can identify their best window based on their asset, their style,

and their time zone. Trading fewer hours, but the right ones, is a management decision, not an

effort one.

“The trader who understands sessions stops fighting the clock and starts using it in their favor.

It is not about always being in front of the screen, it is about being there at the right moment.”

— adds the spokesperson.
