Being a digital marketer is a lot of work. But it’s also a lot of fun. In this interview, Alec Daniel of BlakSheep Creative gives us an inside look at a day in the life of a digital marketer.
Alec Daniel is one of the founders of BlakSheep Creative, a full-service digital marketing agency in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Alec has been working in digital marketing for over ten years and has a wealth of experience to share.
In this interview, Alec provides an inside look at a day in the life of a digital marketer. From strategizing with clients to managing campaigns to analyzing data, read on to see what it takes to be a successful digital marketer in today’s ever-changing landscape.
What is a typical day like for you as a digital marketer?
A typical day starts with checking in with my team to see what everyone is working on. I review our client campaigns to see how they are performing and if areas need improvement. After that, I have a few meetings with clients to discuss strategies or results. The rest of the day is spent working on projects like developing new campaigns, writing content, and analyzing data.
What are some of the most essential skills you need to be a successful digital marketer?
Some of the most essential skills you need to be a successful digital marketer are:
- Strategic thinking: You need to be able to see the big picture and develop strategies that will help your clients achieve their goals.
- Creativity: A successful digital marketing campaign is often built on a great idea. You need to be able to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions to problems.
- Data analysis: You need to be able to understand and make sense of data. This will help you gauge the performance of your campaigns and make necessary adjustments.
- Project management: As a digital marketer, you will often be working on multiple projects at once. You need to be able to manage your time and resources efficiently to get the best results.
What are some of the challenges you face as a digital marketer?
One of the biggest challenges I face as a digital marketer is keeping up with the ever-changing landscape. The digital world is constantly evolving, and new platforms, technologies, and trends are constantly emerging. It can be challenging to stay ahead of the curve and keep up with the latest trends.
Another challenge is managing client expectations. It can be challenging to manage client expectations when it comes to results. Patience is vital in this business.
What are some of the biggest mistakes you see businesses make regarding digital marketing?
One of the biggest mistakes I see businesses make is not being clear on their goals. What are you trying to achieve with your digital marketing campaigns? If you’re not sure, then it will be difficult to measure success.
Another mistake businesses make is not allocating enough resources to their digital marketing efforts. Digital marketing requires time, effort, and resources to be successful. If you’re not willing to invest in it, then you’re not likely to see the results you want.
Finally, businesses need to be patient when it comes to results. Rome wasn’t built in a day, nor are successful digital marketing campaigns. It takes time to see results, so businesses need to be patient and have realistic expectations.
What advice would you give to businesses just starting with digital marketing?
My advice would be to start small and focus on one or two platforms you’re comfortable with. Don’t try to do everything at once. You won’t be able to keep up, and you’ll likely spread yourself too thin.
Also, make sure you’re clear on your goals. What do you want to achieve with your digital marketing campaigns? Once you know that, you can develop a strategy and work towards your goals.
Finally, be patient. Patience is one of the most essential virtues in this business. It takes time to see results, so don’t expect overnight success.
And with that, our day in the life of a digital marketer comes to an end. Thanks to Alec Daniel for taking the time to share his insights with us! Be sure to check out BlakSheep Creative for all your digital marketing needs.
