Tencent, one of the world’s leading tech companies, today unveiled Tencent WorkBuddy, an AI-native productivity agent designed to help office professionals turn natural language instructions into completed work outputs. First launched in China, WorkBuddy is now expanding to users in more regions as Tencent brings its agentic AI capabilities to broader workplace scenarios.
Built to move beyond simple chat-based assistance, WorkBuddy can ingest resources, break down complex tasks, call external tools, execute multi-step operations, and generate deliverable project files across work and study scenarios with a single prompt.

An AI Agent Designed for Everyday Users
WorkBuddy is designed to make agentic AI accessible to everyday users, not only developers. No deployment, configuration, or infrastructure setup is required. A growing library of built-in skills and domain-specific experts comes ready to use out of the box, allowing users to put AI to work the moment they launch the app — no prompt engineering required.
WorkBuddy also reflects Tencent’s broader push to develop AI agents that move beyond conversation and deliver practical outputs across different work scenarios. In addition to office productivity, Tencent is extending this agentic approach into creative production.
On May 28 at Tencent Cloud Day in Hong Kong, the company announced that the international version of Tencent Design Miora, an all-scenario creative agent studio, has opened for invite-only testing. Miora supports AI-generated images, videos, UI/UX designs, 3D content, brand visual systems, and other creative outputs through multiple mainstream visual models from China and overseas, serving global designers, content creators, marketers, and teams that need high-quality visual assets from concept to final output.
What WorkBuddy Can Do?
From Prompt to Project Output
WorkBuddy can handle tasks autonomously by reading files, breaking down complex requirements, calling tools, executing operations, and delivering ready-to-use project files. Its use cases span coding, data analysis, productivity work, research, and other everyday office scenarios.
Tasks Triggered From Anywhere
Users can trigger WorkBuddy remotely through Slack, Telegram, Discord, or WeChat. For example, a user can start a data analysis task from a phone while away from the desk, with the office PC completing the work. Outputs such as PPTs, spreadsheets, and research briefs can then be delivered back through the same IM channel.
Connectors for Existing Workflows
Supported by MCP, WorkBuddy connects with tools that teams already use, including GitHub, GitLab, Jira, Confluence, Google Drive, Gmail, Notion, Slack, and more. Once connected, the agent can read, write, and interact with external services during task execution, helping reduce context switching across different platforms.
Built-In Skills and Expert Teams
The built-in Skills Gallery provides pre-configured, security-reviewed skill modules for high-frequency productivity scenarios. Users do not need to understand underlying APIs or create prompt templates, as the skills are ready to use directly.
For more advanced workflows, WorkBuddy includes more than 100 built-in Expert roles across marketing, engineering, game development, financial analysis, and other domains. Each expert comes with domain-specific skills, prompt templates, and proven methodologies. For tasks that require parallel specialization, Expert Teams can orchestrate multiple sub-agents — for example, one researching, one coding, and one drafting documentation — coordinated by a lead agent.
Flexible Model Integration
WorkBuddy supports model integration via API keys, giving users the flexibility to connect the large language model that best fits their needs across cost, performance, and use case.
Security by Default
WorkBuddy runs tasks in a secure sandbox by default, keeping its operations isolated from the rest of the system. For users who want the agent to work directly with local files, WorkBuddy can access designated folders only with permission.
