February 08, 2015. Today marks the debut of Sync Con, a pioneering event created to teach independent musicians how to license their music for film, television, and advertising.
Launched in early 2015, Sync Con stands out as one of the first conferences dedicated entirely to sync licensing education, a concept rarely discussed or accessible to music creators today.
With the influx of reality shows, musicians stand in a space to monetize their music beyond live gigs or cd sales.
“We started Sync Con to bridge the gap between music and media,” said the founder, Ade Ariyo. “There was no platform showing creators how to actually get their songs placed. Sync Con was built to change that. We are very excited about the positive impact of what we are building now, and it’s continuous growth in the future.”
This inaugural, small-scale workshop brings together publishers and musicians to help musicians understand how to pitch, negotiate, and place their music in TV shows and films, or explore opportunities as in-house composers for networks.
Today’s agenda includes a sync panel, hands on workshop, and a breakout session to network.
Sync Con’s long-term vision is to expand to multiple cities, and countries over time, and build a digital sync community platform to educate and reach music creators worldwide.
Our goal is to be the go to for in person and online peer to peer learning, connecting, collaborating, and networking for music creators in sync licensing.
