How one Dubai-based founder created a non-commercial matchmaking format that prioritises meaningful tech connections over monetisation
In an age where professional networking is often automated, monetised, and overwhelming, IntroduceMe offers something refreshingly human. Founded by Stepan Danilov, a seasoned technologist and serial entrepreneur, the format is not an app, not a platform, but a curated AI-powered event format that has quietly transformed how founders, investors, and engineers connect across Dubai’s tech scene.
“It’s not a startup. It’s not a product. It’s a commitment to people,” says Danilov. “IntroduceMe doesn’t sell tickets or data. It just works.”
A Format Rooted in Intentionality
Since 2022, 65+ meetups have taken place in Dubai under the IntroduceMe name. Rather than scaling aggressively, Danilov chose to refine a format that works: 1000 unique guests throughout 65 events to ensure cross-pollination of ideas, experiences, and resources. No pitches. No booths. Just conversation, curated with the help of MeYou’s own AI matching engine.
This engine analyses two filled-in input forms — guest’s expertise and their interests — to propose soft-match recommendations for whom to speak to first.
Outcomes That Speak Volumes
- One founder closed a six-figure seed round within a month of an IntroduceMe connection
- Another secured a tech lead after six months of searching
- Several guests have returned as mentors or hosts themselves
Zero Monetisation, Zero Ads
There are no sponsors, ticket sales, or upsells. Danilov pays out-of-pocket and insists on keeping it that way. “It’s a social initiative, not a product,” he says.
That’s precisely why he believes it has worked: no transactional layer, no hidden agenda. Just high-trust networking that feels authentic.
Bringing It to the UK
Danilov is now preparing to launch IntroduceMe London, as part of his Global Talent Visa relocation. He intends to host monthly meetups in Shoreditch, Southbank, and Canary Wharf, focused on UK tech’s most promising verticals: fintech, AI, and green tech.
With over 1,000 Dubai participants already impacted, he expects the London chapter to grow rapidly—without ever needing a PR budget.
“The UK has world-class talent. I want to help that talent find each other.”
