Parents at the Crossroads Anthology Launches to Amplify Voices From Family Courts

sa

[Los Angeles, California] — [August 10, 2025] — Millions of parents across the United States continue to struggle against family court systems that too often leave them feeling silenced and powerless. Decisions made in these courts shape children’s futures, yet the voices of mothers and fathers are frequently absent from the public conversation. Parents at the Crossroads, a newly launched anthology series, seeks to fill that gap by documenting and amplifying the lived experiences of parents nationwide.

The anthology is designed as an ongoing series of first-person narratives and carefully reported accounts that shed light on systemic issues in family courts. Rather than offering a broad survey, each installment focuses on a single parent’s story — a deeply personal window into challenges faced by many. These stories are selected for the themes they reveal: the emotional toll of custody disputes, the financial pressures associated with legal battles, and the struggle to maintain meaningful parent–child relationships under court-imposed restrictions. By presenting one narrative at a time, the anthology humanizes issues often reduced to statistics or legal jargon and creates a resource for policymakers, advocates, and families alike.

The project’s inaugural story highlights Tim Sather of Okoboji, Iowa, an entrepreneur and conservationist known for his commitment to community service. Sather’s experience mirrors obstacles encountered by countless parents, including the imbalance of power that can emerge in family court proceedings. His inclusion underscores the anthology’s purpose: not to showcase notoriety or sensational cases but to reflect the widespread and often unacknowledged impact of family court decisions on ordinary families. Each new installment will continue to bring forward diverse voices — single parents, fathers, mothers, grandparents, and others affected by the system — to build a more complete picture of what family court looks like on the ground.

All proceeds from Parents at the Crossroads will be directed to three nonprofit organizations that work nationally to protect children’s rights and advocate for family court reform:

  • National Parents Organization (NPO) – advancing shared parenting and systemic changes to ensure children have ongoing, meaningful contact with both parents.

  • Children’s Rights Council (CRC) – promoting programs and policies that safeguard children’s access to both parents and strengthen family stability.

  • Parental Rights Foundation (PRF) – defending parents’ rights in law and policy to preserve the family as society’s foundational institution.

“This project is about elevating parents whose love for their children drives them through impossible odds,” said Jared Brandon Brewer, who leads the anthology initiative. “Tim’s story stood out because it crystallizes the struggles that parents across the country quietly endure. His story is just the first — many more will follow.”
