The Water of a small town. A Hospital Baby. The Collapse of a Leadership.
It has been a wave of terror sickness and disclosure silence. The tiny Alexandria, Indiana, a sleepy community is now a boiling cauldron of rage. What started out as local rumors of tainted tap water and unusual chemical odors, have now turned into an undeniable public health crisis-with proven cases of E. coli poisoning, hospitalizations, tampered of records, and an administration that not only did little to stop it, but lied about it.
In the middle of this spinning crisis are two names that are now burned into the minds of the masses: Mayor Todd Naselroad, and Clerk-Treasurer Darcy VanErman. Citizens are no more asking questions, they are demanding resignations.
Warnings to Whispers to Whistleblowing on how the Alexandria Water Crisis Developed
It began by test results. And worse it got.
HML Labs confirmed that water levels in Alexandria fell to a shocking 70 per cent lower than the standard legal safety limit of 0.2 mg/L, dipped down to 0.029 mg/L. It was not a mere technicality, but this was illegal. And it was fatal.
Mayor Todd Naselroad got in front of his town and spoke very simply: The water is safe. Drink up.”
He made this statement shortly after a baby was hospitalized on confirmation that it was poisoned by E. coli through the water supplies of the city. He said so despite a local woman remained in a hospital eight days, gravely ill, her son came here by plane in order to care about her mother. He made this statement as the representative of IDEM himself, Clint, was on tape dismissing deadly low levels of chlorine saying, with a creepy catchphrase: “It is a good reading.”
The Concerned Citizens of Alexandria do not agree. They said in a straight forward manner: They were standing in front of a camera where they told individuals that the water was safe. This is presumably confirmed poisoning.”
The Lies Stack Up: Cheats by the dozen
This was not a single error. It was a gross series of ineptitudes and conceals:
- Citizens that were constantly being denied a speaking right to the council meetings by Jeremy VanErman and others
- Mark Caldwell of Water Superintendent lied and said he never got official written requests of chlorine logs
- Caldwell failed to meet his responsibilities under the law in relation to access to public records on the part of Caldwell, Mayor Naselroad and Clerk-Treasurer Darcy VanErman contrary to the law as contained in Indiana Code 5-14-3-3
Everissued no boil notice. There is no public health advisory.
To date, none of the officials has announced publicly about the hospitalization of the baby, ailment of the residents and forbidden test outcomes.
The Wall of Silence: Whose Side were Silent?
- Todd Naselroad, Mayor: Mum. Well, in office still. Still saying that the water is safe.
- Darcy VanErman, Clerk Treasurer: Alleged diversion of funds and withholding of financial documentation. Absolutely quiet about water crisis.
- City Council Members: none have been publicly commenting on the hospitalization of the baby and on the confirmed infections of E. coli.
- Roger Cuneo (District 1)
- John Burdsall (Dist 2)
- Wendi Goens (District 3)
- Amy McCurry (District 4)
- Dave Luck (District 5)
- Jeremy VanErman (At Large)
- Donna Key-Kerr (At Large)
The Concerned Citizens of Alexandria have referenced them all saying that they knew the truth but remained silent. Their maintenance is the same. Their names are passed into the record.”
Whistleblower Counter-Intelligence: 10 Million Lawsuit is Filed
The silence was not sufficient. The story was an attempted murder.
Peters, a whistleblower and founder of SCROOGE LLC, made documents and incriminating test results publicly available. Soon after, his payment processor, Checkout.com, closed his merchant account and placed a 25 percent rolling reserve on the account-actions Peters says were retaliatory.
He has since made a ten million legal request against Checkout.com over:
- Economic sabotage
- Contract breach
- Revenge on a federally sheltered whistleblower
Indiana Department of Environmental Manipulation?
The state is no exception to this scandal. The agency itself, IDEM, which is supposed to prevent such situations in Indiana, but having failed in doing so, is in the fire after its field representative, Clint, was caught on video approving illegal levels of chlorine usage.
In one of the more outrageous flip-flops, IDEM subsequently released a public announcement that 0.2 mg/L chlorine must be present in the system-after the IDEM agent gave his thumbs up on TV camera to 0.09 mg /L.
The others are implying to have had the water of the baby tested at her home. The mother of this baby states that, there was no one who came.
The Names Must Fall: The People Have Spoken:
The list of those whom the people demand of their resignation are:
- Mayor Todd Naselroad
- Water Superintendent Mark Caldwell
- Jeremy VanErman-the mayor of the city
- IDEM Representative Clint
They are also demanding statewide intervention and direct involvement of Governor Braun as well.
The Town Conclusion: This is a planned Cover-Up.
Alexandria no longer is whispering. It’s shouting.
What started as objections to the yellow water has now turned into what some are calling the Mayor Todd Naselroad Scandal-a case study of how political denial, institutional silence and regulatory negligence can gut a community. And in the core of this eruption are two of the most powerful people of the town: Todd Naselroad and Darcy VanErman.
The ill people are still suffering. Water is still not quite dependable. And Alexandria waits- not only the justice but the accountability.
This is no longer a water crisis. It is a leadership meltdown.
And there is a message of the people of Alexandria to those who betrayed them:
We know you by name. And we are finished at being quiet.”
