If you’ve played Dead by Daylight for long enough, chances are you’ve run into a few games that just felt… off. Maybe the killer always knew where you were, or that one survivor seemed way too fast to be legit. In a game where mind games and hiding spots are everything, cheaters can really ruin the experience. But how can you actually tell if someone’s cheating and not just cracked at the game?
Let’s break it down like real survivors in the fog.
- They move like they’re on cocaine
No joke — if someone’s zipping around the map like they’ve got five Haste perks stacked, it’s probably not a bug or a bugged out perk combo. Speed hacks are a real thing, and they make a killer nearly impossible to juke or a survivor basically uncatchable. DBD isn’t exactly a movement shooter, so anything that looks too fast to be true usually is.
- They always know where you are
You’re hiding in the corner of the map, crouched behind a bush, no scratch marks, no sounds and the killer walks straight to you like he’s got a sixth sense? Yeah, that’s probably ESP or wallhack in action. Same goes for survivors who seem to avoid every trap, totem, or danger like they’re reading your playbook. Coincidence? Maybe once. Every match? Nah.
- They never miss
You vault a window mid-chase, but the killer still manages to land a perfect hit at the weirdest angle. Or every survivor hits every skill check, every time, no matter how small the zone. That’s usually a sign of a silent aimbot or perfect-timing script. In a game built on pressure and mistakes, someone playing too flawlessly might not be playing fair.
- Their behavior feels… off
Some cheaters aren’t even subtle. They’ll loop you in the open without fear, play hyper-aggressively with no caution, or just act like they already know how the match will go. You might think, “Wow, this guy’s cocky” — but more often than not, they’ve just got tools giving them an unfair advantage behind the scenes.
- They’ve got cracked stats — and no reason to
You can look up player profiles and match histories with third-party tools. If someone is getting 4Ks every game with weird loadouts, no prestige, and no effort… it might be worth raising an eyebrow. High-level play is real, but stats that don’t match behavior? That’s sketchy.
So what can you do about it?
First, don’t jump to conclusions. Some players are just built different, and it sucks to report someone who’s just good. But if you’re seriously suspicious, record the game, submit a report, and let Behaviour do their thing.

It gives you a full look behind the scenes into what cheaters use, how it affects matches, and why Behaviour’s anti-cheat is constantly in a fight.
Cheating ruins the fun, but being informed makes you stronger. Whether you’re a survivor main or a sweaty Blight, knowing what to look for helps you keep your games clean or at least know when something’s fishy.
