In a bold challenge to billionaire-controlled sports franchises, Football Is For The Fans Ltd has announced it will stream its upcoming NASL revival games — including the legendary New York Cosmos™ — completely free on its own platform, FootballIsForTheFans.com. The project will also relaunch a series of original NASL teams under a fan-ownership model, laying the foundation for a brand-new independent football industry controlled by supporters rather than corporations.
The revival will see heritage American clubs — such as the Cosmos and other historic NASL icons — back on the pitch and back in the hands of the fans, rather than locked away in corporate portfolios. These matches will be delivered direct to supporters worldwide with no paywalls, using a disruptive digital platform that bypasses traditional sports gatekeepers.
“We’re putting the matches where they belong — in front of the fans, for free,” said Scott “Matchmaker” Michaels, founder of Football Is For The Fans. “No billionaire barriers. No cable monopolies. Just football — streamed to everyone.”
Football Is For The Fans has also launched a crowdfunding raise to help fuel this mission, with 25 backers already on board and a goal of reaching 100 supporters in its next phase. This allows football lovers to directly own a share of the project and help rebuild a transparent, fan-first ecosystem for the modern game.
“This isn’t about selling licenses or cashing out,” Michaels continued. “We are rebuilding a truly independent football industry from scratch — one where supporters control their clubs, their players, and their matchday experiences. We’re not parking brands in a vault for five years — we’re putting them back on the pitch, in the hands of the people.”
The first streamed NASL revival games are scheduled for summer 2026, with fans invited to vote on rules, kit designs, and matchday experiences through FootballIsForTheFans.com. The mission is to merge football heritage with modern fan-powered innovation, preserving the legacy of America’s greatest soccer clubs while creating a fair, accessible, and community-driven system for the future.
