The international company Oracle Health has become a member of the April Conference Digital Medical Expertise & Applications – one of the largest healthcare companies in Europe. And it’s Oracle Health software engineer Alisa Novik who knows all about the company’s latest innovations. After all, she is the author of many of them.
– Alisa, tell me, what interesting decisions in the field of healthcare has Oracle Health made? In January, we saw Oracle Corporation was included in the three companies that created the Stargate program – a large-scale AI project of $ 500 billion, supported by the Trump administration. Would love for you to share how things are going in this direction.
– Of course, the participation of Oracle in the initiative of Stargate is a strategic step that directly affects healthcare. The development of personalized MRNC-vaccines and the use of AI to analyze large-scale patient datasets will help early detection of cancer. This is fully consistent with the Oracle Health mission to create universal and scalable solutions for clinics, laboratories and national health systems.
Oracle Health is a company with large-scale plans and ambitious ideas. I was given the task of developing the infrastructure and functionality of services that are used by clinics and hospitals. This includes a client management system, a constant auditing system of healthcare data, which covers all the functions of the organization. As a result, the system has been implemented and operates. Recently, I’ve been focused on developing critical parts of the platform’s core data pipelines that power Oracle Health’s operations.
My other development has solved the problem of automating the processes of creating reports on development productivity. These reports regularly were presented at top management meetings and were the basis for decision-making. The use of this system increases the rate of identification and elimination of errors in development processes, contributing to a better distribution of resources. And this, in turn, increases the performance of the team and the quality of the services provided.
– It sounds impressive. No wonder at 24 years old you already have a Senior position. In the USA, this status is usually assigned after the age of 30 years.
– I received this position at 23. By this age, I had a lot of professional experience and an impressive list of technical literature read. After all, my path in programming began at the age of 11.
– Your career develops rapidly. As far as I know, you have become the youngest specialist in the history of multi-branded fintech company Eleving Group. Today, the company is one of the leaders of the industry. It works in 16 markets and 3 continents. Real success to get there!
– Yes, I got a job at the age of 20, having gone through many tests and interviews. The competition was high, and only every 20th applicant who completed the task reached the interview.
In the company, I developed key elements of the lending risk assessment system. The risk team created the scoring models of AI, which lived in the Azure ML cloud. I made an infrastructure for the functioning of the models and seamless integration with the corporate system. This development allows you to identify bad loans at an early stage. The introduction of the system reduced the costs of the company, which was directly broadcast into operating profit. After the launch of the project, the company’s net profit increased by over one million dollars per quarter. With this development, I became the winner of the prestigious CASES & Faces Prize in the nomination category “achievements in the field of technology and development”. The Eleving Group has also taken 41st place among the fastest growing European companies over the past decade in the study of “Champions of long-term growth in Europe 2024” conducted by the Financial Times and Statista.
– You always produce a high result! I know that you left a successful mark in another large company – BTCBIT. They serve thousands of customers around the world, supporting the purchase and sale of more than 25 cryptocurrencies. How did your impact develop?
– From October 2023 to January 2024, I was officially selected in the technical jury of a large -scale BTCBIT developers selection program in Eastern Europe. Within the framework of this initiative, technical interviews and a comprehensive assessment of candidates for the position of the Middle and Senior level with a wage of € 4000 – 6000 per month were held. In total, I conducted almost 50 technical interviews, checked and graded about 100 test tasks. I will proudly say that I managed to attract 12 highly qualified developers who successfully work in strategically important BTCBIT financial projects.
In addition, I was selected as one of the company’s top technical specialists to conduct specialized code reviews for code written by both internal and external development teams. During the code review, I analyzed in detail the architecture and quality of the program code according to key criteria: cyclomatic complexity, unit test coverage, compliance with the principles of SOLID, the correct separation of modules, API consistency and the correctness of error processing.
I conducted a comprehensive technical assessment of about 30 German banks in order to integrate their API and payment systems into the BTCBIT infrastructure. I checked their communication protocols, compliance with the Berlin Group standards, API rate limits, data protection methods and error management. This ensured the safe and effective integration of banking services into the company’s platform. This work influenced the successful launch and development of strategically important open banking services BTCBIT.
– Each time you accept new professional challenges. How do you increase the level of skill?
– I am interested in the search for new solutions and optimization of processes. Now, for example, I am developing my programming language and writing a framework for developing web applications on Java. My developments are on the GitHub platform. Professional community is equally important. I am in one of the most famous associations of Hackathon Raptors expert engineers. It includes outstanding software architects from Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Nvidia, Tesla, Zoom. The candidate for joining the Association must demonstrate confirmed significant achievements in the field of engineering, technology or other disciplines for at least five of the past ten years. Then undergo a thorough selection from members of the association for compliance with its high requirements and mission. I recently visited Atdc AI Meetup in Atlanta and Buckhead Startup Village, where I made acquaintances with a large number of colleagues from financial institutions and Bigtech (Google, Meta).
– And you yourself did not think to share professional experience?
– I already do. In Oracle Health, I am preparing a workshop for a conference on medicine and AI. In my telegram channel, I advise technical specialists on interview preparation and improving their technical profiles. I also run a microblog on X. Over the past two weeks, my posts have reached nearly 60,000 views. I’m developing my own methodology for systematically improving a developer’s technical profile, increasing professional efficiency, and boosting their impact on team and industry results. I’ve already held more than 20 private consultations and received excellent feedback. I’ve also published articles on job searching and technical interviews. Several articles on technical interviews have been published on the Medium platform, where I share my experience conducting mock interviews. The tech community — especially specialists seeking jobs in the U.S. and abroad — responded warmly to these publications.
