Almir is making significant contributions to the field of cybersecurity through his research and extensive career at Petrobras, leveraging his expertise to enhance IT security practices. As a Senior Member of the IEEE, a distinction held by only 10% of the IEEE’s over 500,000 global members, Almir has demonstrated exceptional professional maturity and achievement in the field of engineering and technology.

His research, published in the renowned RevistaFT, a Brazilian electronic scientific journal, addresses critical cybersecurity challenges. In his article “Role of Technical Support in Preventing Cyber Attacks” (June 27, 2023), Almir outlines the pivotal role of IT help desk leadership in employee training programs. He emphasizes comprehensive education on basic cybersecurity, phishing recognition, creating strong passwords, and the importance of software updates, advocating for an integrated approach that combines advanced technology with rigorous security protocols to mitigate cyber risks and protect organizational assets. This work has been recognized as a significant contribution to enhancing cybersecurity awareness within large organizations.

Almir’s career at Petrobras, spanning from 2002 to 2016 across various roles, showcases his expertise in SAP R/3 systems and business analysis. At Sonda Procwork Informática LTDA / Sonda IT (Petrobras) (2013-2016) as a SR Functional Analyst | SR Business Analyst, he optimized transactions, achieving a 30% reduction in costs and processing time across multiple Petrobras managements. He also implemented automation for invoice issuance, resulting in a 20% cost reduction, and facilitated strategic integration of legacy systems into SAP R/3, saving 15% in maintenance costs. Earlier, as a Functional Consultant at Sonda Procwork (2011-2012), Almir led the Automatic Fine project, saving Petrobras millions of reais by ensuring accurate material documentation. His roles consistently involved critical analysis, incident management, and ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of information, aligning with his research focus on cybersecurity.
