Coding a Cultural Shift: How TeachMeCode Institute Is Redefining the Role of Gaming in MENA’s Digital Future

In a world where gaming is often reduced to entertainment, TeachMeCode Institute is rewriting the narrative. In the heart of the MENA region, where history and storytelling run deep, the institute is turning game development into a tool for cultural expression, economic growth, and personal empowerment. Partnering with HP, TeachMeCode is shaping a future where gaming is more than play: it’s a profession, a passion, and a platform for identity.

Gaming as Cultural Expression

MENA has always been a land of stories. From oral traditions to epic poetry, the region has long valued narrative. TeachMeCode is taking that legacy and moving it into the digital age, giving young creators the skills to tell regional stories through immersive, interactive media. By teaching game development as a form of storytelling, the institute is helping gamers become authors of their own digital worlds.

This approach encourages a powerful mindset shift. No longer just consumers of global content, the MENA youth are becoming creators of culturally rooted, globally competitive games.

Education as a Cultural Catalyst

Traditional education systems often struggle to keep pace with the rapid evolution of technology. TeachMeCode offers a fresh alternative: a future-ready model rooted in creativity, collaboration, and real-world relevance. Its programs are technically rigorous and designed to support innovation and entrepreneurial thinking.

This vision recently took shape through a partnership with HP. The partnership combined the strength of HP Gaming Garage with TeachMeCode’s commitment to skills-based education. The result is a dynamic educational ecosystem that blends academic structure with direct industry application.

Building a Workforce for the Future

According to PwC, the global gaming industry is expected to hit $312 billion by 2027. Yet talent shortages persist. The International Game Developers Association reports that the workforce needs to expand by 30% over the next five years. With MENA already home to over 377 million gamers, the region is ready for this change.

TeachMeCode Institute is answering that call. “It is our privilege to collaborate with HP in equipping the next generation with future-proof skills in game technology, AI, and immersive digital experiences,” said Alexandru Cocindau, Chairman of TeachMeCode. “By welcoming HP into our network, we are laying the foundation for sustainable success.”

Empowering Identity Through Technology

The first initiative under this collaboration is already making progress, a training Program for Omani nationals. Using Unity, one of the world’s top platforms, students are learning to design and build their own games, grounded in their cultural identity.

Expanding Aspirations and Opportunity

TeachMeCode reduces the barriers that often limit access to tech education. By focusing on inclusivity without compromising rigor, the institute enables students from diverse backgrounds to engage with advanced tools such as AI and real-time 3D visualization.

Its AI-powered platform, BIELA, serves as both a tool and a symbol, demonstrating how technology can lower entry barriers and unlock creative potential.

A Platform for Youth-Led Innovation

Students at TeachMeCode are building rather than just learning. Encouraged to prototype, experiment, and develop original games, these young developers are shaping the region’s digital identity.

Legacy in the Making

With plans to expand industry partnerships and launch new certification and mentorship programs, TeachMeCode Institute aims to leave a lasting impact.

“Through our collaboration with TeachMeCode Institute, we are shaping a gaming technology education that is globally connected, locally relevant, and focused on the future,” said Mayank Dhingra of HP.

In every classroom and code block, a new narrative is forming. One where MENA’s youth are not just part of the digital future; they’re leading it.
