In the evolving world of product design, few professionals stand out for their commitment to accessibility and social impact as much as Rahmat Raji, a US-based Nigerian Senior Product Designer at Ozette Technologies Inc. With a passion for human-centered design, Rahmat specializes in strategy, experience design, and research to create data-driven, user-focused, and socially impactful products that also align with business objectives.
Rahmat’s journey into design began with a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from Ashesi University in Ghana. She later honed her expertise with a Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction Design from the University of Washington, equipping her with the skills to tackle some of the world’s most pressing usability challenges.
During her time at Ashesi University, Rahmat worked under the guidance of David Hutchful to research the user experience limitations of tablet-based communication systems for autistic children in Ghana. This groundbreaking study led to the development of a high-fidelity prototype that significantly improved the accessibility of communication tools for children with autism. Her design achieved 85% reduction in communication errors, increasing success rates; 60% decrease in the time required for users to communicate compared to industry-leading applications; and 50% improvement in task completion rates for participants with motor deficits.
Reflecting on her work, Rahmat emphasizes that accessibility and inclusivity have always been at the heart of her design philosophy. “I’m passionate about crafting impactful human experiences,” she shared in a virtual interview with our correspondent. “Leveraging design, I am motivated to contribute to tackling the world’s complex problems and enable people to live, work, or interact better.”
Her work at Ozette Technologies Inc., a company at the forefront of technology and research, further cements her role as a leader in human-centered design. By merging research, data, and innovation, she continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in inclusive design and accessibility.
As technology continues to shape the future, professionals like Rahmat Raji ensure that no one is left behind, proving that good design isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about impact.
