When asked about the most significant success he has experienced in his life so far, southern California entrepreneur Tony Chang responded, “Finding, knowing and being myself.” Going through the peaks and valleys of everyday life, Tony Chang has gone from being an employee working for someone else to developing an entrepreneurial spirit that has launched him to be the head of his own business. With Super Jewelry Co, Chang is creating custom jewelry pieces while building personal relationships with his clients. After building a strong brand image for himself and his company, the budding businessman is looking to bring his company to the masses.
After years of moving from city to city with his family as a child, Tony Chang spent most of his youth in the southern California city of Ranchos Palos Verdes. Upon his high school graduation, Chang set off on a path to earn himself a graduate’s degree. However, he slowly began to realize that this path may not be the one for him along the way. Coming to these realizations also meant Chang was coming to face the fear of starting over in his career path. “Honestly, it was horrible and challenging,” Chang shares. Acquiring a desire for financial freedom after reading Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad, Tony began taking the right steps to entrepreneurship.
The path was not easy for Tony Chang, though. He spent time as a realtor with Keller Williams and time working at a local 24-hour Fitness, but never quite felt like he fitted in. “I struggled to find myself. I struggled to find out what I wanted to do. I struggled to make a name for myself.” Facing fiscal, spiritual, and emotional grievances in his life, Chang was unsure where to turn next. “I went through a period where I had a negative balance in my checking account and had to use my points from my credit card to keep afloat,” he shares. “The most difficult challenge I am so happy to have overcome is really having self-worth, self-confidence, and self-acceptance to put myself out there for the world to experience.”
A chance encounter with the CEO of Ablaze International, a well-established jewelry corporation, pointed a lost Tony Chang in the right direction. Spending nearly six years with Ablaze, Tony learned the jewelry industry’s ins and outs and was now well equipped to break away and finally pursue a business that was all his own. In 2018, Tony Chang founded Super Jewelry Co and began life as his own boss. “I sell Fine Real 10K and 14K gold jewelry, create custom jewelry, and motivate aspiring entrepreneurs to create a revenue stream of their own,” Chang shares of his company. Building a brand that puts the clients first, Super Jewelry Co acts as your friend before approaching you as your jeweler.
Chang’s path to success has taught him a lot about business and life in general. Now, he is looking to share what he has learned with the next generation of hopeful entrepreneurs. “It takes believing in yourself,” Chang advises. He continues, “If you don’t at first, having just one person really believe in you until you do.” Through the ups and downs, Chang has relied on self-determination and the acknowledgment and bettering of his insecurities to find his way to the top.” Life truly is a game, and those who put themselves out there to play will get hurt the most but will end up winning sooner or later.”
