7 Ways to Make Your Small Business Appear More Professional

Make Your Small Business Appear More Professional

Starting a small business is a great way to take your first steps to building your own brand. However, there are things you can do to make your brand new business look more professional in the early days.

Business premises

If you have a business that requires a physical store, you will need to set up in a place that has a desirable address, or there is a demand for your services in the area. As much as we all want to set up a business with a premium address, sometimes that isn’t possible and we need to go where the demand is. There is also the flip side of having an internet based business and being able to run it from your home. While this is handy, it might not be the best idea to have your business registered to your home address. If you desire that separation, there is an option of hiring a mailbox so you can have your business and personal addresses separate.

Emails

Having a professional email address can help to set you apart from your competitors. It is possible to have run your business using a free email address (such as gmail.com) but it lacks that professional touch. The same can be said about not having an electronic signature as part of your sign off. Both of these things are very affordable and add that extra touch to your business. These things might not seem like a big deal but they can make the difference between people taking you seriously or not.

Have social media pages

As a business, one of the quickest ways to get your name out there is by ensuring your social media pages are up and running. Social media is one of the quickest ways to connect to your customers and get your name out there. For example, if you set up a business page on Facebook, you can send an invite to all of your friends for them to “like” your new business page. This gives you a huge advantage when it comes to other people searching or stumbling upon your business as this can give your credibility as a business.

Invoices

One of the biggest issues that people face as business owners is invoicing. A lot of new business owners feel uncomfortable asking for money that they have earned, so they drag their feet about issuing invoices. Never feel embarrassed about asking for money that you have earned. Make sure that you have an invoice system set up and ready to go so that you can issue invoices from day one. And always put a day and an expected payment date on it so that your clients will be sure when they can expect to pay. This keeps everyone clear of their obligations and there will be no confusion.

Set up a website

We know we mentioned social media, but this isn’t the only way to make sure your business is visible online. Having your own business website is a great way to display your business information and you have complete control. Social media is great but you are at their mercy, and if they decide that they don’t like what you are posting, they can delete your account. Or, if the social media company shuts down, all of your business information disappears with it. Having your own website allows you to take away that uncertainty and allows you to create a prementa space online for you and your business.

Business phone number

If you have a business that requires a phone number, you will need to get a separate one. Your business phone number and personal numbers should be kept separate. For one thing, if you are using your personal number for business, you run the risk of people phoning you at all hours, especially if it is a mobile number. It is not unheard of to have people phoning businesses in the middle of the night, demanding their services as soon as possible. If you have a business number, when you are done for the day, you can simply switch the phone off until the next morning.

Set business hours

Having set business hours is not only great for your customers, it is great for your mental health too. As we stated in the point above, some people have no boundaries and will phone you at all hours of the night. Business hours set those boundaries for everyone. This is also great for your family who will want to know when they can spend time with you. And if you go outside of your business hours, they will be able to tell you that you are working too much.
