The past two and a half years have been a challenge for everyone. Whether you’ve had your business directly impacted, or just had your life feel like it’s unpredictable, it’s been very tough. Many of us feel like we’re finally coming out of a dark storm and we can see the light. Channel that feeling and turn it into something productive. Now things have stabilized a little around the world, it’s the perfect time to focus on growing your business so you can get closer to your goals. Here are my 4 tips for getting into a growth mindset which can help transform not only your business, but your life in general.
1. Understand That Failure is a Part of Learning
If you’re not failing, you’re not learning and not really pushing yourself. Changing how you feel about failing can make a huge difference as to how much you put yourself out there and what opportunities you try. Getting used to failing is a wonderful gift you can also give your children, too. Why not ask them about what they failed about today and celebrate that they tried and pushed themselves to do something new? Once you get over your hang ups about failing, you’ll see you’re much more open to pushing your boundaries and trying something new. 2. Start Each Day Off Right
One of my favorite habits is to start each morning off on the right foot. You can get a journal that helps make this easier with prompts, but some things I like to do is to ask myself what three things would make today great. This gives me a clear place to start and I try to list at least one thing that will help me grow myself or my business each day so I can see I’m working towards my goals. I also like to start off with some positive affirmations, as well as a bit of gratitude. This practice takes all of five minutes each day and helps me stay focused on my growth mindset and start my day off right. 3. Pay Attention to What You Focus on
Whatever you focus on grows, so if you spend your days focusing on what’s wrong with your business, your frustrations or limitations, chances are you’re going to find more of that. Focus on how easy and fun it has been for you to grow your business to whatever size it is now, and try to be really clear about what kind of growth you’d like to achieve. Try to have little reminders of where you’d like to be in various timelines set up around your office so you can be constantly reminded of what you’re aiming for.
4. Enjoy the Process
This is one of those things I used to hear and cringe about. “It’s about the journey, not the destination.” Well, I think both the journey and the destination are important, but if you can train yourself to really enjoy the process, to enjoy seeing small progress over just enjoying the final result, it will make growth a lot more fun for you and also a lot more natural. An important part of enjoying the process, in my opinion, is learning to celebrate the small wins we have each day that lead to massive change over the course of a year or our lifetimes. If you can spend more of your life in a growth mindset, you’ll be amazed by the wonderful results it will have in both your professional and personal lives. Hopefully these tips help you get there and stay there.
