4 Types Of Car Damage & What To Do About Them

Car Damages

No matter how safe a driver you are, there is always the possibility that your vehicle is going to come to some kind of damage or harm at some point or another. This is pretty much a certainty, but all being well it will only happen once or twice if at all, and when that does happen, hopefully it won’t be too severe. If you are worried about what might happen when this does occur, try not to be – it’s actually relatively easy to fix most types of car damage.

To illustrate that, we are here going to take you through some of the major common types of damage that a car generally sustains, and show you what you can do about them. You should find that the fixes are generally surprisingly easy and quick, so let’s take a look.

Busted Wing Mirrors

If you have a busted wing mirror, don’t worry. That is one of the most common types of damage that a car can sustain, and it’s actually a very easy and affordable fix. This can happen really easily, too. It might be a passing car or cyclist hitting into the mirror, or it might have happened as you tried to park up close to a wall or hedge – or maybe just as you pushed it in and pushed a little too hard.

In any case, all you need to do is to glue it back on with a high-quality glue like superglue or something similar. Or you can use duct tape, but that is not going to work quite as effectively. Glue it on to the base and clamp it there for the night – by the morning it will be as good as new.

Smashed Number Plate

Something else that happens quite often is when the number plate gets smashed up. This can happen really easily, and it is often the result of simply having someone go into the back of you. Or sometimes, it can be that it was loose and came off on the road, so you just need to replace it anyway. In fact, in either case the thing to do is just to replace it. If you are thinking about having to do this, don’t worry – it is a very affordable thing to do. Buying number plates online is cheap and cheerful these days, so you don’t need to worry about that.

Car Damages

But you should definitely make sure you replace it quickly, because it is illegal to drive without one. In the meantime, you can at least affix a sign to the back of the car showing what the license number is.

Lost Wheelhub

This is perhaps the single most common type of damage that happens with vehicles. It’s so common that you might not even think of it as damage. It’s certainly true that you can safely and legally drive without wheel hubs, and you are not going to get pulled over for having any missing. Mostly they are an aesthetic thing. But if you do lose one and you want to make sure that you are replacing it as soon as possible, then that is an easy thing to do and shouldn’t take too long. Next time you have the new one put on, make sure that it is secured in place with a cable tie, so that it is not going to come off again.

Car Damages

Bumper Hit

If you have your bumper hit, the extent of the damage is obviously going to dictate how serious a problem it is. The bumper is obviously there for a reason, and generally that reason is to try and make sure that you are going to be safe should you get hit. So in a sense, the bumper did its job. And if it is just a little scratched, you might not want to do anything about it. If it is bent out of shape, however, then it is certainly going to be important to do something about it, and as soon as possible.

Ideally you will have it replaced altogether with the right bumper. This can be a little pricey compared to some of the fixes on this list, but as long as you do it right it is going to help you to have a much happier car.

Those are just some of the types of damage to watch out for in particular. As you can see, they are easy enough to fix up.
