2025 Simming Prize Winners Announced

The online role-playing world came together last month as the Simming League proudly unveiled the winners of the 2025 Simming Prize, the most prestigious honor awarded in simming and play-by-post communities globally. Dedicated to recognizing those who exemplify creativity, dedication, and leadership in simming, this year’s Laureates truly reflect the breadth and brilliance of the craft.

The Simming Prize, formally called The Prize for Simming and Online Role Playing in Memory of Seth Cotis, honors individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the art and community of online role playing. Over the years, this accolade has grown in significance, akin to a “Nobel Prize” for simmers who shape and elevate shared narrative experiences.

In 2025, five exemplary recipients were chosen by the League’s Trustees after a careful review of outstanding contributions across the simming world. Congratulations go to Gregory of Pegasus Fleet, USS Hiroshima of Obsidian Fleet, Federation Space, USS Firebird of Independence Fleet, and Shadow Fleet. Each brings a unique legacy of creativity, leadership, and community building.

Gregory of Pegasus Fleet

Gregory’s influence within the simming community is both broad and deep. Known for exceptional leadership and mentorship, Gregory frequently steps forward to facilitate conversations that bring participants closer to the heart of the craft. An active host at all four major simming conventions, Gregory’s ability to inspire, challenge, and support storytellers is widely recognized. Whether guiding new players or elevating veteran contributors, his commitment to community enrichment played a major role in earning him this year’s Prize.

USS Hiroshima (Obsidian Fleet)

With a storied history spanning over two decades, USS Hiroshima stands as a testament to the enduring power of long-form collaborative storytelling. The sim recently underwent a reinvention that blended classic elements with fresh voices, revitalizing the arc and drawing both old and new players into a vibrant experience. Its capacity to balance legacy and innovation showcases the dynamic potential of sustained simming projects.

🌌 Federation Space

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Federation Space has demonstrated that longevity need not sacrifice quality. This forum-based club fosters an environment where hosts, players, and contributors work together seamlessly. A robust wiki, active leadership, and interconnected narratives help Federation Space bridge individual sims into a unified and engaging shared universe. The League’s Trustees highlighted the club’s focus on infrastructure and collaborative creativity as a key strength.

🔥 USS Firebird (Independence Fleet)

The USS Firebird continues to blaze trails in the simming world. With a diverse cast of characters and strong narrative foundations, Firebird has captured attention with consistent excellence and innovation. Most notably, it recently earned the top overall prize at the Tournament of Simulations, further solidifying its status as a community leader. The Firebird’s ability to balance lore, character interaction, and creative risk helped secure its place among this year’s Laureates.

🌑 Shadow Fleet

Rounding out this year’s honorees, Shadow Fleet has long embodied a distinctive approach to simming — one that harmonizes autonomy and organizational cohesion. Founded in 2007, Shadow Fleet’s commitment to organic storytelling and strong internal structure has cultivated an environment where players feel empowered to craft rich and evolving narratives. Its academy and leadership frameworks were specifically noted as exemplary.

🎉 Looking Ahead

The 2025 Simming Prize winners showcase the diversity and depth of excellence in the simming world. From individual leadership and innovation to collaborative clubs with storied histories, these Laureates exemplify the best the community has to offer. As sims continue to grow and evolve, we look forward to celebrating the next generation of storytellers who carry forward the spirit of creativity and fellowship highlighted in this year’s awards.
