Genuine Jeep Design

Exterior

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee has a totally redesigned exterior that emphasizes a new look and contains a significant restyling of many distinctive components.

The front bodywork is consistent with traditional Jeep design, giving drivers and passengers a bold new look and feel on the road. The Jeep design team has developed a fresh, premium appearance that retains the brand’s signature style. The model has an updated appearance thanks to its redesigned fascia, lightweight hood, LED headlights, daylight running lamps (DRL), fog lamps, and liftgate, while retaining its legendary capabilities in any climate or terrain.

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee maintains its iconic proportions from previous years, with a broad and imposing stance and an aggressive wheel-to-body ratio. Best-in-class performance is achieved in part by using steep approach and departure angles. The seven-slot grille and waterfall hood have become a defining design element and have been preserved. The new sloping lightweight aluminum hood projects crisp visual lines that set it apart from the front fenders, adding to the vehicle’s unique, high-end appearance.

It has superior LED lighting technology. The Cherokee’s trademark daytime running lights (DRLs) have been integrated into the front Bi-LED projector headlights for a streamlined, modern design.

Adaptive cruise control radar sensor is located underneath the newly redesigned front fascia, which now has twin LED fog lights surrounded by dazzling trim accents. New standard bright chrome steel tow hooks are included with all Overland variants.

Consumers also like the push-push fuel door and capless fuel fill, which remove the need to touch and turn the gas cap while refueling (and so keep the driver’s hands free of gasoline odor).

The rear profile of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee has been re-sculpted, giving it a more harmonious flow that complements the vehicle’s new, more modern appearance.

A trademark red “Feature Light” — a thin homogeneous LED light strip that encompasses individual stop, turn, and reverse tail lamp applications — is still a prominent component of the Cherokee’s rear backlight visual.

The release handle has been moved to a more convenient location on the new and improved lightweight composite liftgate. In addition, you may open the liftgate without using your hands by kicking beneath the bumper.

With its revised aggressive front fascia, increased approach angle, anti-glare hood decal, and standard red tow hooks, the Trail Rated 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk model provides unrivaled off-road prowess within the sector. Trailhawk versions are the most competent mid-size SUV available thanks to their protective steel skid plates below, tough external look, excellent departure angles, taller fender flares and ride height, and specialized 17-inch off-road tires for class-leading 4×4 capabilities.

The Jeep Cherokee maintains its open-air heritage by providing a sunroof with a motorized sunshade to cut down on glare.

Overland trims comes standard with a 19-inch premium polished aluminum wheel, one of five wheel options for the 2019 Jeep Cherokee’s standard selection.

Blue Shade, Sting-Gray, Velvet Red, Firecracker Red, Olive Green, Hydro Blue, Light Brownstone, Granite Crystal, Billet Silver, Diamond Black Crystal, Pearl White, and Bright White are only 12 of the exterior color options available to buyers.

Interior

The cabin of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee has been given a more refined look while yet maintaining its utility and comfort. Unique Jeep design elements and premium, hand-sculpted shapes are a perfect match. The eight standard air bags and more than 80 additional safety and security measures give the passengers with all they need for any trip, while the driver-focused cockpit is crammed with easy-to-use, practical technology.

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee has a lot of classy touches that stand out at first glance. The radio, air vent, and gear shifter bezels all get a fresh coat of high-gloss Piano Black, and they’re accented with quality Satin Chrome tracers for a sleek, unified aesthetic. For driver’s convenience, they’ve encased the electronic park brake button inside the center bezel of the shifter.

The enlarged front storage pocket is ideal for keeping mobile smart phones and other devices close to the integrated USB port for convenient access to linked services, and the redesigned front media center hub (USB port and 115-volt outlet) has been moved further back in the console.

The Cherokee’s top instrument panel, door panels, and armrests all use high-quality, durable materials. All of the cabin’s interior trim is plush and aesthetically pleasant. Lighter tones were used on lower trim panels to complement the seats and breathe new life into the interior, which the designers say makes the room seem more open and airy.

Power-adjustable, heated, ventilated, and memory seats with an ergonomic design that conforms to the shape of the user’s body are offered. The unique “Hex” interlocking pattern is used on premium fabric brands. Second-row seats that split 60/40 to move forward and backward are offered for passengers’ convenience and storage needs.

Drivers and passengers alike will appreciate the luxurious touches, such as the heated leather steering wheel and vented front seats.

Cargo space in the back has been extended by more than three inches, bringing the grand total to more than 27 cubic feet. This is enough room for a set of golf clubs or a week’s worth of groceries, making it ideal for everyday excursions.

There are two more inside color schemes available for the Jeep Cherokee, both of which draw inspiration from exotic locales and are in keeping with the Jeep brand’s DNA blueprint and the basis of the adventurous lives that motivate Jeep consumers worldwide.

The Storm Turquoise interior, featured in the Latitude and Latitude Plus, was reportedly inspired by the stark contrast between the black ash and blue sky of Iceland’s volcanoes. A reflection of this is seen in the combination of Storm Blue thread and jet black upholstery on the seats. The Dark Sienna interior motif, standard on Cherokee Overland trims, has earth tones reminiscent of clay and outdoor freedom, both of which are indicative of Jeep’s unparalleled off-road performance.

A 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four direct-injection engine with automatic stop/start technology (ESS)

With three engine options to choose from, the 2019 Jeep Cherokee is a versatile and trustworthy option for daily excursions thanks to its exceptional on-road manners and outstanding fuel economy. The 2.0-liter direct injection turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine produces 270 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque and is matched to a high-efficiency nine-speed automatic gearbox, making it one of the most technologically sophisticated engines in the automobile industry. The engine has improved maneuverability and a speedy acceleration from 0-60 mph, as well as low emissions and excellent fuel efficiency thanks to engine stop-start (ESS) technology.

With its twin-scroll, low-inertia turbocharger and electric-actuated waste gate, the 2.0-liter I-4 delivers outstanding responsiveness and performance, especially on rough terrain. In order to reduce emissions and increase turbo longevity, it is fitted directly to the cylinder head. The intake air, throttle body, and turbocharger may all benefit from being cooled by their own separate system.

With double overhead camshafts (DOHC), dual independent camshaft timing, and a cooled exhaust gas recirculation (C-EGR) system, the 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine belongs to the family of Global Medium Engine design. This may be the first use of a twin-scroll turbocharger in conjunction with a C-EGR system, central direct injection, and liquid-cooled air intake, throttle body, and turbo. This synergy of technology is what allows for the exceptional performance and low fuel consumption.

Better combustion, lower emissions, and enhanced performance are all made possible by direct injection in conjunction with turbocharging. The fuel pump of the 2.0-liter I-4 engine provides gasoline to the high-pressure common-rail injection system, which operates at 2,900 psi. Improved performance and economy are the results of the high pressures used to atomize the fuel and distribute it more precisely than is possible with port fuel injection.

The cylinder head is made of a cast aluminum alloy and has a high tumble intake port layout with a central injector. Together, the enhanced fuel economy and performance from the high charge motion and the well-balanced air flow are achieved. A water-cooled exhaust manifold is built into the cylinder head to lower emissions and improve engine durability.

To achieve its 1,995cc displacement, the 2.0-liter I-4 engine uses a low-pressure, sand-cast aluminum block with a cast-in iron liner. Pistons are cast from aluminum and have a 10:1 compression ratio and four valve pockets to support the dual VVT system. Piston oil cooling jets are installed in the gallery of each cylinder bore, which helps to keep piston temperatures low, lessens spark knock, and lengthens the life of the pistons. Lower oil consumption and oil pumping effort may be achieved with the use of select-fit main and rod bearings, which allow for smaller clearances. The diamond-like coating (DLC) on the floating piston pins helps keep things slippery while still moving.

Improved fuel economy is one benefit of the high-energy ignition system’s high-energy ignition coil. Spark plugs made of precious metals, such as iridium and platinum, are very long-lasting. The spark plugs are conveniently located in the middle of the cam cover for easy access during maintenance. Exhaust valves packed with sodium and piston rings covered with plasma also contribute to the engine’s longevity and endurance.

The oil pressure is maintained at high levels at high speeds using a two-stage variable displacement oil pump, but is reduced for better fuel efficiency under normal driving circumstances. Besides regulating oil pressure, the two-stage oil pump is responsible for regulating piston temperature, which both improves fuel efficiency under normal operating circumstances and increases durability during demanding, high-load engine running. An engine with a big oil cooler may go longer between oil changes.

Both the intake and exhaust camshafts are driven by a quiet main chain with teeth in the opposite direction of rotation. To accommodate engine stop-start operation, camshafts are manufactured robotically with hollow shafts and polished cam journals to decrease weight and increase longevity. When compared to a solid shaft of the same length and diameter, the usage of hollow shafts results in a weight savings of 3.5 pounds.

Nine-speed gearbox

Improved upon is Jeep’s nine-speed automatic TorqueFlite in the 2019 Cherokee. To improve the transmission’s driveability, new software has been added.

When compared to a conventional six-speed automatic gearbox, the nine-many speed’s advantages include quicker acceleration off the line and more efficient gas mileage on the interstate.

The gearbox is built to keep the car in the right gear at all times. It has a first gear ratio of 4.71, which aids in taking off, and the intermediate gears shift smoothly thanks to their tiny increments.

Lower engine speeds, made possible by higher gears, greatly improve fuel economy.

The gearbox is also an efficient part of the design. Benefits in packing space utilization are realized by its layered carrier architecture.

Strong on-road performance

A rear independent multi-link suspension and a front independent suspension with MacPherson struts both absorb on- and off-road hazards while offering exceptional comfort to the passengers of the car. For enhanced articulation, the rear suspension offers up to 7.8 inches of movement in addition to the 6.7 inches of travel provided by the front suspension. Drivers can enjoy a quieter, smoother ride and greater handling qualities in the Cherokee thanks to the isolated rear cradle, high-strength, low-alloy front crossmember, and superior torsional stiffness.

With a turn circle radius of more than 37 feet in 4×2 models and almost 38 feet in 4×4 versions, the 2019 Jeep Cherokee’s electronic power steering system (EPS) increases fuel economy and adds to the vehicle’s agility. Instead of a conventional hydraulic system, EPS uses an electric motor system to provide power assistance. The system is entirely electronic, resulting in appropriate steering effort for the driver at all vehicle speeds, reduced noise, and higher fuel economy since a power steering pump’s parasitic losses are eliminated. Active safety features made possible by this technology include LaneSense Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist and ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist.

Jeep’s unmatched 4×4 capabilities

Three cutting-edge 4×4 systems are available for the 2019 Jeep Cherokee, and all three have been improved for unparalleled 4×4 capabilities in all weather situations. Rear-axle disconnect technology, which reduces energy waste when 4×4 capability is not required while increasing fuel economy, helps the Jeep Cherokee retain its status as the industry standard mid-size SUV. For continuous torque control, the rear-axle disconnect easily shifts between two- and four-wheel drive without the driver’s involvement.

Security and safety

More than 80 safety and security measures are available on the new Jeep Cherokee, which was designed with them. The Jeep Cherokee is built from the ground up with a solid, 65 percent high-strength steel frame. Then, engineers added both active and passive security features, such as the ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus, Forward Collision Warning-Plus, and LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus, as well as the SOS button, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Roll Mitigation, Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path detection, ParkView rear backup camera with dynamic grid lines, and eight standard air bags.

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee’s ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist technology is still a standout feature. When the driver commences the parking move, the system locates and direct the customer into an open parking place using ultrasonic parking sensors on the bumper. While the driver controls the gear position, brake, and accelerator, the parking guiding system automatically regulates the steering angle. The automobile may be parallel-parked on either side. The car is backed into the space during parallel parking. In addition, a new side-distance warning function makes drivers more aware of side objects while the car is moving slowly and in parallel parking.

In certain situations, Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus is useful since it can stop the car completely without the driver’s help. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee can locate cars moving in front of it thanks to radar and video sensors. The sensors also guarantee that the driver-determined distance between the cars is maintained. Even if the driver never taps the brake pedal, the ESC system may forcefully use the brakes to bring the car to a complete stop if the gap is significantly broken. The driver merely has to touch the accelerator pedal or click a button on the steering wheel to restart movement.
